Import Regulations

The vehicle must be at least 25+ years old to be exempt from USA Safety, Emissions and Bumper regulations.
Age of the vehicle is from the date of manufacture not the registration date.
Vehicle age must be verified with the V5 registration document.
VIN stamp or VIN plate permanently attached to the vehicle must be visible and matching the registration document (no galvanised chassis).

USA

The vehicle must be over 15 years old to qualify for exemption from the RIV programme.
The importer needs to be able to prove the age of the vehicle, using the VIN and V5 documentation.
