Introducing
Project Voil – Harris Edition
A bespoke build 1987 Land Rover 110, carefully curated to the owner’s lifestyle with a heart-warming back story.
Originally exported to Singapore with the British Military this special 110 has lived an interesting life. Having only covered 15,000 Kilometres during its time abroad, it then was imported back into the UK by the owner’s father as a wedding gift, where it was subsequently used as their wedding car at Loch Voil, Scotland.
After almost 40 years of service, it was time for this much-loved Land Rover to get some well-deserved TLC.
The brief was to create a Land Rover fit for another 40 years of adventure, whilst maintaining its heritage and authenticity, with personal touches and design elements to enable the owners to enjoy their lifestyle to the max.
Reliable
Mechanically project Voil was treated to a new 300TDI engine and R380 5-Speed Gear Box, replacing the original 2.5 L naturally aspirated diesel, a significant increase in reliability and on-road performance. This was paired with a fresh OEM suspension set up, and an entirely new braking system including a rear axle Drum Brake to Disc Brake Conversion from LOF Brakes. A stainless-Steel Sports exhaust was also installed to help free up the 300 TDI Engine and add some extra character to the driving experience. Project Voil is now mechanically ready to go on those long family road trips up to the Scottish Highlands.
Refined
To make the on-road experience more refined and in line with modern expectations, Project Voil’s cabin was treated to a host of upgrades. Fat Matt Extreme sound proofing was applied to the Bulkhead, floor panels, seat box and doors – then finished with a rugged and stylish moulded Acoustic Matting system from Exmoor Trim. The centre Bulkhead had a reduction kit installed to allow the front seats to have more range of motion, this was also paired with seat risers to allow for greater leg room.
A “TD5 Style” Dash from SP 4×4 was installed, this transformed the old Dashboard and allowed for host of upgrades Including, Electric Windows, and modern Audio System. A pioneer Double Din Head unit was installed with DAB Radio, Apple Car Play and Android auto – all played through a stunning Focal Speakers.
The Cabin was then Finished with a bespoke Tan Leather and Harris Tweed interior from Lucari Solutions – a beautiful nod to the vehicles Scottish history. In the front of the vehicle, premium High Back Heated Front Seats with Harris Tweed Inserts where installed, along with matching Centre console. In the rear a pair of exquisitely trimmed 2-man beach seats.
Also installed into the rear. A beautiful handmade wood deck, made from 40mm thick African Sapele Hardwood, naturally stained and fixed with stainless steel fixings. A custom-made Gun Box, colour matched to body colour, ready for the Scottish Field Sports season and large enough to securely store the owners golf clubs in the summer.
Timeless
Externally project Voil had a full cosmetic makeover, with a professional back to metal repaint in classis Land Rover Keswick green – New Doors where installed, along with a new bulkhead to replace the original aging panels. A fresh Galvanised Heavy Duty Roll Cage was installed from All Wheel Trim along with their stunning Mohair Canvas in sand, with roll up sides and side windows. A classis and timeless aesthetic.
A galvanised front bumper and spare wheel carrier were chosen to tie in with the classic look and ensure project Voil looks great for many years to come. LED lighting package was installed to make sure project Voil can’t be missed, using coloured lenses to stay true to the heritage of the vehicle. Fold up “County Style” Side and rear steps were added as simple but effective way to improv access for all to project Voil.
Project Voil – a Land Rover with a long history of adventured, grounded in sentimental landmarks and embedded into family history for ever.
